Rejoice Today Despite the Headlines | The Revolt News
As we peer and ponder the current state of the professing church, it is clear that we are facing a crisis of moral decay and theological liberalism. The headlines are a testament to this disturbing trend: Veggie Tales Creator, Phil Vischer, has publicly complained that Candace Cameron Bure’s TV channel, which is geared towards families, will not include any LGBTQ+ representation. So-called “Christian” schools are now pushing transgenderism onto young children despite the clear contradiction with traditional Christian teaching. And TGC contributor, Tony Reinke, has argued that Christians who follow the teachings of Jesus in their entirety are "too liberal" for conservatives.
Ed Stetzer’s publication, Church Leaders, has published an article giving instructions on how to make churches more welcoming to homosexual individuals, despite the clear biblical teaching on the immorality of homosexual behavior.
These headlines are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the moral decay and theological liberalism that is rampant in the professing church. We see it in the false prophecies of prosperity preachers like Creflo Dollar, who teaches that people will be saved because of how rich God makes them, rather than the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross.
We also see it in the disturbing trend of so-called "progressive" churches, like the Lutheran church that celebrated "The Day of the Dead" with Aztec dancing and altars to deceased ancestors.
And we see it in the legal battles faced by prominent churches, like David Platt’s church, which is being sued by its own members for violating the church’s constitution and making controversial financial purchases.
It is easy to feel overwhelmed and hopeless in the face of such rampant corruption and moral decay in the church. But we must remember that our hope is not found in the actions of the church and its professed leaders, but in the saving work of Jesus Christ on the cross. Through his death, burial, and resurrection, we have the assurance of the forgiveness of sins and the promise of eternal life. As Christians, it is our duty to hold fast to this hope and to continue to proclaim the truth of the gospel, no matter how difficult the circumstances may seem.
We must not lose sight of the fact that, in the end, it is not our own moral strength or theological sophistication that will save us, but the grace of God, freely given through the sacrifice of his son, Jesus Christ.
