All of the recent headlines regarding Evangelicalism and the Church paint a bleak picture of the state of affairs. From leaders platforming homosexuality to promoting false gospels and abortion, to the Catholic Church allowing Muslim calls to prayer during mass, and the liquidation of millions in assets to pay off left-wing LGBTQ activists, it seems like the Church is moving further and further away from its core principles.
One of the most disturbing headlines is the one about the SBC pastors joining a leader who platforms a homosexual who says he's "gay" and "likes boys." This is a clear indication of the shift towards accepting homosexuality within the Church, something that goes against traditional Christian teachings. The Church is supposed to be a sanctuary for those seeking guidance and support, but this move sends a message of acceptance towards a sinful lifestyle that goes against the Bible.
Similarly, the news about Greg Laurie's "Jesus Revolution" presenting a watered-down gospel that forgoes real repentance is disheartening. The Church's primary purpose is to guide people towards repentance and salvation, but with such teachings, the Church is failing in its mission.
The headline about a pretend pastor claiming that faith is "too small" if one does not support abortion is alarming. Abortion is one of the most hotly debated topics in contemporary society, and it is not up to a pastor to promote such a divisive issue. Instead, the Church should be focusing on spreading the gospel and helping people lead a righteous life.
The headlines about the Catholic Church allowing Muslim calls to prayer during mass and the Catholic student being arrested after organizing a school protest against boys in girls' bathrooms is a stark reminder of the importance of upholding Christian values. The Church should be promoting a sense of morality, but instead, these headlines indicate that the Church is losing its way.
The Evangelical leaders being labeled "conspiracy theorists" for being wise and cautious about the propaganda coming from the government regarding the COVID scamdemic is a troubling sign of the polarization within the Church. The Church should be a place of truth where people are not ostracized for being willing to put a little effort into seeking it. Still, the Church is becoming increasingly divisive, with different factions fighting for their beliefs, regardless of how it affects the Church as a whole.
The current state of Evangelicalism and the Church is dismal. The headlines indicate that the Church is moving further away from its core principles, promoting sinful lifestyles, and failing in its mission to guide people towards repentance and salvation. It is time for the Church to take a hard look at itself and recommit to its core principles before it is too late.
God sees it. He’ll reform it, right? What exactly IS OUR AGENCY in this ? I feel powerless ,really , to do anything except talking to people. I have no power other than what the Lord allows, which is nothing. I’m glad Reformation Charlotte exists. It’s got reach and brilliance in its ability to communicate this reform message. I’ll just keep supporting Jeff.
