The Evangelical church finds itself at a crossroads, straying from the solid foundation of biblical truth in favor of appeasement, worldly acceptance, and cultural relevance. The degradation of doctrine in favor of emotionalism, the dilution of the Gospel to meet the whims of a politically correct culture, and the infiltration of secular ideologies have left the church compromised and weakened. It's a bitter pill to swallow, but the institution that was once the guardian of uncompromising truth has been infected by vain philosophies that stand in stark contrast to the 66 books of Scripture.
In times like these, the role of an informed Christian is not just beneficial, but vital. Failing to stay updated on current events through a biblical lens is equivalent to navigating a ship through tumultuous waters without a compass. The social and political landscape is not separate from God's sovereign will or the biblical commands that govern individual and communal life. Ignorance is not bliss—it's a fast-track to a lack of discernment, making one susceptible to deception and less effective in serving the kingdom of God.
It's not merely about pointing fingers at the world's degradation, but recognizing that the church has often failed to be salt and light. Christians should immerse themselves in Scripture, understand its application in the modern context, and confront the issues of our times with wisdom and unwavering faith. Anything less would be a disservice to the Gospel and a forfeiture of the divine authority bestowed upon the church by the Almighty Himself.
